The Adventures of Agent S

Chapter 4

Scene 9

Canada. A land of icy freezing death. A land of opportunity.

The home of one lab where a man decided to play god with science, the lab that was the birthplace of the Simons.

The cold air was cut by the blades of a small attack chopper. It had rockets under the side fins, and a gattling gun on the front.

Inside the chopper, a bundled Simon shook from the cold. Bobby drank hot chocolate, and offered S some.

"You know, I think I hate the cold." Simon replied through chattering teeth.

"It's ok, you've got the best jacket money can buy. It's inset with internal heaters. My present for saving my ass from Firehawk back there."

"Ok, there's the instillation." Simon replied, pointing to a small building in a clearing of forest.

The chopper landed down in the field, and Simon got out.

"Sure you don't want my help?" Bobby yelled over the chopper blades.

"No, it's safer for you to stay here. I'll radio you when I need picked up. Good bye, Bobby." S yelled back.

"Good Bye." Bobby yelled.

Simon waved, and walked off.

"Good luck. God knows what horrors you see in there…" Bobby muttered to himself.

Simon walked to the little shed in the middle of the snow. He opened the door, and walked inside.

Inside the shed was nice and toasty. Simon grumbled and took off his jacket.

Simon looked around. The only thing in this room was a little podium with a control board on it. He picked a button and pressed it. The room rumbled.

The five-foot square of floor Simon was standing on started to descend. It was a platform lift. The platform stopped, and Simon was staring down a hallway.

S started walking along the hallway, and readied his UZI. He noticed the smell in the air was strangely pleasant.

S came into a lounge,, and saw blood covering the floor. Body parts were sitting sparsely in the red liquid, and Simon almost retched. He walked through it.

He came to a secretary's desk, and found legs of some girl still in the chair. He walked down the hallway to his right. He came to a turn, and continued on.

Simon passed door after door, and stopped at one. Inside was the control room for an experiment lab. He saw a little boy, stark naked, playing with something on the floor. Simon entered the doorway.

"Hello?" S asked.

"They don't last long." The little boy replied. He turned, and showed Simon a decapitated arm. Simon stared at the boy's eyes, and looked into eternity.

"Well, they don't, do they?" Simon responded, smiling.

"Oh, you must be Agent 8."

"How…"

"They have a computer database with just about everyone on Earth, and some other places…"

Simon put away his gun.

"So, your luck has prevented you from going insane. No one can look into my eyes with out going crazy."

"I don't know. I guess it saves my life all the time."

"Well, I guess you're here to kill me. My father Robert never liked his experiments not to do what they're told."

Simon pulled his gun back out. Suddenly, he was slugged in the back. He looked to see another naked boy standing in the doorway.

"I can't let you do that to Robby." The new boy said.

"Robby?"

"Yes, I am an experiment created from the DNA of Robert Ukland. In a sense, he's my father. He, however, is Chris."

Chris walked in the room and looked at the ceiling. Tentacles of skin shot from him and wrapped into the ceiling. Chris hung suspended from the roof.

"Who's he?" S asked.

"Chris is the Lab 9 experiment. He's a Hitler's dream. The perfect human. He has an IQ of 230, he has no health problems, a perfect immunity system, and complete control over his body."

"That explains the tentacles."

"I got AIDS and my body killed it. They couldn’t kill me with Cyanide, Nuclear Radiation…even guns have little effect on me. They created one weapon that can destroy me, but those slow security guards couldn't even use it properly."

Simon looked between the two.

"What do I do now? You should know my situation." S asked, curiously.

"Well, no doubt Robert sent you to kill us. I'm sure you could, but I've got something you want." Robby explained.

"What?" Simon asked again.

"Simple. You know little about the Simon project. It said it in your file. What if I tell you the whole story?" Robby asked.

"For what?" Simon replied.

"You destroy this horrible place, and burn out all these poor experiments who were never meant to live." Chris said.

"And in return; we escape, alive."

"But I'm-"

"Don't worry. We'll supply you with evidence that we died. Robert has no implants or trackers. We destroyed the monitoring system in these labs." Robby explained, getting up and walking over to stand under Chris.

"Yes, we tell you what you want to know after we escape." Chris added.

"Ok, tell me then. What the hell is that smell?" Simon asked.

· · ·

Simon, Robby, and Chris stood in front of a doorway. Inside was pure darkness. The doorway was covered with a black tar-like substance.

Simon nodded, and walked into the darkness. He started humming.

When he was far away, Robby and Chris turned to each other.

"Well that gets rid of him."

Chris looked at Robby.

"What happens if he comes back out?" Chris asked.

"Then we help him. I am a man of my word, but I want to go play with my arms some more." Robby explained, lifting up the arms he had pulled off people.

· · ·

Simon came into a dimly lit hallway. At the end was a metal door. It was green lighted, meaning it was unlocked.

Simon opened it, and walked into darkness. The place was pitch black, except for one single light that shone directly on the spot Simon stepped into.

He heard a monstrous shuffle, and a loud chuckle. Simon looked around, and in front of him saw two red glowing eyes.

"So, one has made his way into my lair. How do you feel to be the first casualty of my reign of tyranny on your small pathetic planet? You shall feel pain of a thousand deaths." A great voice stated, coming from everywhere at once.

Simon looked at the floor, and saw great black goo all around him. It stood a foot off the ground, and rolled towards him slowly. Simon raised an eyebrow.

The black stuff filled the light spot, and Simon was standing ankle deep in this goo. The goo just sat there.

"What?" the great voice screamed.

"Um, could you get this crap off me? My feet tingle." Simon complained.

"What? You should be retching in pain. Your soul should be ripped into pieces and absorbed into the 'goo'." The voice yelled, nearly deafening Simon.

"Umm, they told me to kill you. I can come back at another time."

"What? What is this? I sense something about you…"

"Umm…"

"Your aura, it's a protection field. You couldn't be killed if you wanted to. You're immortal!" The voice replied.

"Ok, I'll leave then."

"Yes, I shall spare your life, not as if I have any choice in the matter. You are incredibly powerful. I will let you leave, as you seem to have more important things to do." The voice replied.

Simon saw the black goo spread away quickly, and the door open up.

"Good bye, and may we meet again." The voice replied.

Simon walked back out to where he last saw Chris and Bobby. They were gone. He continued walking until he got to the first room he saw them. They were both playing with body parts.

"Hey guys, ya miss me?" S replied.

Both boys flipped around, and looked extremely surprised.

"Wow, he made it." Chris exclaimed, dropping the parts and getting to his feet. He walked over to Simon.

"How the hell?" Robby asked, doing the same. They both looked him over.

"Well, it spared me…" S replied.

Suddenly a girl appeared at the door. She was covered in a cloak.

Simon spun around.

"Hello, gentlemen. Could you per chance tell me where to find an incredibly large dragon that secretes a black goo?" she asked calmly. Her cloak didn't show anything but a mouth.

"Yeah. Down that hall, first left, at the end take the door on the right. Can't miss it." Simon answered. She smiled, and left.

"Well, that was entertaining. Shall we leave?" Robby asked.

· · ·

All three people stood before a control room. The glass in front of the control panel looked out over a chemical plant, under a steel dome.

"That is the heart of the mountain, and it leads to every laboratory. Set the switch over on that panel, and every lab except lab 1 will be blown to hell." Robby explained, setting in one of the chairs.

"What is lab 1?" S asked.

"The lab where the Simons are held. It has it's own power source, and it's own self-destruct. It's in your best interest to let it be." Chris told Simon, setting down as well.

"Well, I guess so. What about the girl we met?" S responded.

"She'll hear the warning system, and escape." He replied.

"What about all the experiments?" Simon asked, confused.

"Most of them don't know how to escape. We need to lock down all the labs, and leave ourselves one path. The path you came in on, Simon." Robby said.

"So the girl takes that path too?"

"If she wants to live."

Simon grabbed the intercom.

"Excuse me, strange girl in the cloak. We are going to blow this place to hell. The only way to escape is through entrance three. Get out when you hear the alarm, you'll have twenty minutes." He said.

The voice of Simon blared through every announcement box in the complex.

Robby flipped the switches, and locked down all doors except the ones they and the girl would need. He shut power to everywhere except on the escape path.

Simon set the self-destruct system to twenty minutes, and turned it on. The announcement system repeatedly blared:

"Attention: self-destruct has been initiated. All personnel to follow emergency escape routes."

Simon, Robby, and Chris ran like hell. The system blared behind them.

· · ·

Simon, Chris, and Robby passed the door they originally met at. They came upon the unconscious body of the cloaked girl.

Simon stopped, picked her up over onto his shoulder, and continued running.

They passed around the corner, and into the bloody lounge. A thing appeared from the left hallway, spread its arms, and walked toward them. Simon handed the girl's body to Chris. He pulled out his big gun. Robby pointed towards the hallway out.

They ran towards it, with the big purple creature behind them.

"What the hell is that, the G-Virus mutant or something?" Simon yelled.

"Actually, it is. That game was based off fact, or that monster was based off the game." Chris answered.

"Well, keep going, I'll hold it off!" Simon yelled, readying his gun. They were in the hallway, and less than twenty feet from the platform lift. Robby, Chris, and the girl got on the platform. It lifted them upward towards the surface.

The monster stopped, and spread its arms. All four of them. It had huge claws like Ender had on each one. It stood ten feet, and was wide shouldered. It roared, but was overpowered by the announcement system.

"Two minutes until detonation. Repeat, two minutes until detonation."

The monster walked towards Simon, and he readied his gun. He fired a shell, and the creature flew back. It had half it's torso ripped out. It roared, and fell to the floor.

It's jaw dropped, and it's mouth spread out in a circle of five feet diameter. The mouth was overflowing with vicious teeth. It roared, and shifted its arms to work as feet. It now ran at him on six feet.

Simon fired another shell, followed by several bursts of UZI fire. The shell went into the creature's mouth, and its head blew apart. It dropped.

Simon looked behind him, and saw the platform was finally coming back down. He waited until it got down, and he got on. He turned around.

The creature was spreading out, and filled the hallway. It was like a giant blob with a huge mouth of sharp teeth. It had an eye on each side of its head, and it slowly edged toward him.

"One minute until detonation. Repeat, one minute until detonation."

Simon realized the lift wouldn't make it. He noticed a barrel by the platform. S grabbed it, and pulled it on the lift.

The lift started up, but the creature didn't want that. Tentacles shot out, and grabbed the platform.

Simon hopped into the barrel, and closed his eyes. The creature pulled the platform down, breaking the gears. It was puzzled to see Simon was gone. It looked all about this dead end.

"Self-destruct initiated. Thank you, goodbye."

The monster knew what that meant.

· · ·

Robby, Chris, and the unconscious girl were far enough away before the explosions started. The mountain collapsed in on itself, and huge parts of ground collapsed in on the underground laboratory complex.

"I kinda feel sorry he died." Chris replied. A single tear rolled down his face.

"Yeah, me too." Robby replied, turning around to continue their walk.

Chris looked in the air, and his eyes went wide. "Robby! Look."

Robby spun around, and looked into the air. Chris smiled.

A small object had been thrown in the air by the explosion, and was falling towards them very quickly. It was a barrel.

It smashed into a deep snow bank, and was steaming. Simon jumped out, his body and clothes slightly charred. He coughed, and fell face down in the snow.

"Simon, I can't believe it. You're alive!!!" Chris yelled happily.

Simon rolled over, and sat up.

"Ok, so I got you out." Simon replied, picking the radio off his belt. "Bobby, over…this is Simon, over."

There was a few seconds of dead air, then…

"This is Bobby, you ok Simon?"

"Yeah. Pick me up at the drop off point, and bring two sets of twelve-year-old boy's clothes." S replied.

"Umm, ok. If you say so."

"So, when we all get to America, you guys tell me everything."

· · ·

An hour later, the chopper appeared out of the clouds, and landed on the snow. The four of them got inside.

Robby and Chris put the clothes on, and they laid the unconscious girl out on the seat. Simon turned to Bobby.

"This is Chris and Robert. We found the girl inside the complex, and we know nothing about her."

"I know who she is." Robby replied.

"Who?" Simon asked.

"The computer file said she was some chick named Elisa. She's the daughter of some dragon or something."

"That dragon in the laboratory must have been her father." S replied.

They all looked at her.

Bobby tapped Simon on the shoulder, and whispered something in his ear. Simon turned around.

"They're experiments from the lab. They both hate Robert Ukland, so they've agreed to help us." Simon whispered.

The girl groaned. Everyone turned to her. She awoke, and sat up.

"Hello?" Chris replied.

"H…hello. Where am I?" she replied. She held her head in both hands.

"Well, what's your name?" Simon asked. He handed her a cup of hot cocoa.

"Well…my name's Elisa. I'm a Government agent, and I was being called by an ancient being. A being I thought was my father, but who was an evil beast of long ago. He attacked me, and I barely escaped. What happened after that?"

"We found you in the hallway, and we escaped and blew up the place." Robby explained.

"That dragon has burrowed a cave outwards from it's room. If it curved the cave upwards, and covered the entrance with that black stuff, the explosion wouldn't have touched him. He's probably digging a tunnel to the surface as we speak."

"Well, I can't help you stop it." Simon sighed.

"I can, I'll help you!" Chris replied.

Elisa and Chris smiled at each other as the chopper disappeared into the distance. Below them, the ground had given way to a tunnel. If they had looked down, they might even have seen one man walking out.

Draycus smiled, and walked into the forest. He had so much to do now. What a wonderfully evil world…fresh for the picking. He smiled even bigger.

· · ·

The suburban drove up the quiet street, and parked in front of a house. Simon and Robby got out. Bobby closed the door.

"Good luck." Bobby replied.

The truck drove off, and the two were left standing in front of a house. Robby knocked on the door, and it opened. Amy looked at them, and sighed. They walked in, and sat on her couch.

"So, Simon, how are you finding life?" She replied, pouring them tea.

"Good. Robert thinks everyone died, and I'm his lackey." Simon replied. Robby laughed, and turned to Simon. He pulled out a pack, and smoked a cigarette.

"Ok, this is how it is. Back in the seventies, an alien appeared in a small town in Missouri. The government covered the area, and captured the being. Come to find out, that the alien didn't come from space…" Robby started. He took a sip of tea.

"It seems he came from another world. The government learned his technology, and killed him. This was stupid, as they found out that it was the creature's life essence that let it travel dimensions."

"Hence, Project Simon." Simon said, finishing Bobby's speech.

"Right. You can travel through existing wormholes. Do you feel one near?" Robby replied.

"Y…yes, I do." S replied.

"Too bad you can't use it." Robert Ukland replied, stepping out from the hallway. Simon pulled out his gun.

Ender stepped out behind Robert.

"Kill them. Kill them all."

"What about me?" Amy yelled.

"You didn't kill Simon. You betrayed me. Kill her as well."

Ender stepped out, and Amy jumped over the coffee table landing next to Simon. Simon concentrated, and the window swirled into a dimensional gate.

"Everybody, jump!" Simon yelled.

Amy jumped, and Simon followed.

Robby turned to his creator.

"Hello father." Robby replied. Robert backed up. Bobby smiled.

"Robby? How the fuck, they reported that you died! You can't be…"

"I wouldn't let a little explosion keep me from you." Robby explained.
